Information about Affenpinscher Dogs
Originating in Germany and one of the oldest of the Toy breeds, the Affenpinscher is a lively character, full of mischief, known as 'The Black Devil'. The expression is mischievous and monkeylike, the temperament lively and self-confident, indeed there is a certain comic seriousness about this breed. The Affenpinscher is a loyal companion, watchful of strangers and fearless toward aggressors. Although only small with a height of 24-28 cm (9.5-11 in) and weighing 3-3.5 kg (7-8 lb), the breed is not delicate in any way.
The untrimmed rough, harsh, black coat, sometimes with grey shading, is short and dense on some-parts of the body and shaggy on others. Badger pied markings on the head and ears are acceptable. The hair on the head stands aw; from the skull, framing the dark, sparkling eyes, the nose and chin. This is a suitable breed for a town or country lifestyle. |
