Brief Review on Australian Silky Terrier
At one time known as 'The . Sydney Silk', the Australian Silky Terrier originated, as the name implies, in Australia, with a background combining the Australian and Yorkshire Terriers from which breeds many qualities have been retained. Despite being classified in the Toy Group, this breed should have sufficient substance to suggest ability to hunt and kill domestic rodents.
Although a Toy, the breed is very Terrier-like -keen, alert and active with a temperament which is friendly, quick and responsive. The eyes arc small, round and as dark as possible, imparting a keen, intelligent impression, whilst the v-shaped ears are set high on the skull and are pricked, but have no long hair. Height is around 23 cm (9 in) and weight should be about 4 kg (8-10 lb). The long, straight, glossy coat is not difficult to maintain with a few minutes' daily brushing, the smart parting giving a well groomed appearance. |
