Detailed about Bolognese Dogs
The Bolognese is likely to have been developed from the Bichons of southern Italy even though the name is taken from the northern city of Bologna. A breed such has this has been recorded since the thirteenth century and was popular among the aristocracy during the Renaissance.
Suitable for hot climates, the long, flocked white coat has no undercoat and covers the entire head and body, without curl. The large, round eyes are dark with well- pigmented rims and lips, and the eyes and nails are black, as is the large nose. The feet are oval and even the pads of the feet are black, in keeping with the other dark pigmentation. This breed is intelligent and forms a close companionship with its owner but is tends to be rather reserved in temperament. Its height ranges from 25.5-30.5 cm (10-12 in) and its weight roughly from 3-4 kg (5-9 lb). |
