The Boston Terrier Dogs
The result of crossing the British Bulldog with the white English Terrier, as the name implies, the Boston terrier is a native of America where a specialist breed club was formed in 1891 .A lively, intelligent, determined and strong-willed breed, the Boston is a compactly built dog, varying substantially in size.
With a short head and short, low-set tail, either tapering or screw, the breed should be well balanced, no feature standing out so prominently that the dog appears badly proportioned. The coat is short and smooth and the colors preferably brindle with white markings or alternatively black with white markings. Weight is divided into three categories, Lightweight: under 6.8 kg (15 lb), Middleweight: 6.8-9 kg (15-19 lb) and Heavyweight: 9.1 kg (20 lb) or above but under 11.4 kg (25 lb). Although no height guide is given in the British breed standard, this is usually 38-43 cm (15-17 in). |
