Detailed informantion about the Boxer
Believed to be descended from Bulldog and Great Dane type dogs, the Boxer was developed in Germany towards the close of the nineteenth century and gained recognition as a guard dog in 1926. In Britain, the Boxer is shown with its high set ears hanging naturally by the head, but in some countries they are cropped.
Full of stamina, this is a fearless and self-assured breed, but it is equable in temperament and biddable too. The Boxer is loyal to its owner and family and friendly at play, but has a guarding instinct and is distrustful of strangers so needs careful training. With an appearance of great nobility this dog has a square build, is strong boned and has powerful, well-developed muscles. The short, glossy coat is smooth and tight to the body, and the color fawn or brindle. Height ranges from 53—63 cm (21-25 in) and weight from 25 to 32 kg (55-70 lb). |
