An overview on Chihuahua Dog
Taking its name from a Mexican city and state, the Chihuahua probably has roots in South America and is said to have been sacred to the Aztecs. Best known for being the smallest dog breed in the world, the preferred weight is 1—1.8 kg (2—4 lb) and should never exceed 2.7 kg (6 lb).
Although small, dainty and compact, this is an alert little dog, gay, intelligent and spirited, not snappy or withdrawn. The well-rounded 'apple dome' head has a saucy expression with large, round eyes and large, flaring cars set on at an angle of about 45. There are two coat varieties - long and smooth - but each is easy to keep clean and well groomed. Not especially suitable for very small children, this is a happy lap dog and one which is usually willing to announce the approach of strangers. |
