About the Giant Schnauzer
In the Bavarian highlands, the Giant Schnauzer was used by drovers to herd cattle and for many years the breed was known as the Munchener Dog. Classified in Germany as a Working dog in 1925, the Giant Schnauzer is generally less well-known than this breed's smaller cousins, the Miniature and Standard Schnauzers, both of which are classified in the Utility Group. An imposing, powerfully built and robust breed, the good natured Giant Schnauzer is versatile, being strong, hardy, intelligent and vigorous. Resistant to weather and capable of great speed and endurance, regular exercise is necessary.
Height ranges from 60—70 cm (23.5-27.5 m) and weight is generally from 32-35 kg (70-77 lb). The harsh, wiry coat with its undercoat needs trimming. Colors are pure black or pepper and salt, on which a dark facial mask is essential. |
