An overview on Great Dane
Despite the name, the Great Dane hails from Germany, where the breed is known as the Deutsche Doggie or German Mastiff and is the country's national dog. It was used in the seventeenth century to hunt boar and stags.
Although this is a large breed, some 71—76 cm (28-30 in) high and weighing 46-54 kg (100-120 lb) at minimum in maturity, the Great Dane is friendly and outgoing. Elegantly built, the Great Dane looks ready to go anywhere and do anything. The head gives the impression of great length and the strength of the jaw and the wide open nostrils give a blunt look to the nose. The short, dense, sleek-looking coat comes in brindle, fawn, blue, black and harlequin, which is a pure white ground with all black or all blue patches. |
