Briefly dicuss the Italian Greyhound
Perhaps the first breed which was ever developed as a lap dog, the Italian Greyhound claims a background going back to the days of Pompeii, but it did not come to Britain until the seventeenth century. Described as a Greyhound in miniature, more slender in all proportions, this is an elegant, graceful and quick-moving dog. The many colors of this breed may be broken up with white.
The Italian Greyhound may appear rather aloof, but it is intelligent, affectionate and vivacious, a dog which, though small, enjoys plenty of exercise. With short, fine hair, a velvet pad or even a piece of silk can be used for daily grooming to give a glossy sheen. The skin is fine and supple and this comfort-loving breed will be only too happy to settle into something soft and warm. Height is roughly 33-38 cm (13-15 in) and weight 2.7-4.5 kg (6-10 lb). |
