An Review on Lowchen

Although the lowchen may be related to the Bichon Frise, the origin of the breed remains obscure. Because the Lowchen is trimmed, leaving a full mane and tail plume resembling those of a lion, the additional name 'Little Lion Dog' is frequently used.

This is a friendly, happy little dog, both active and playful, very intelligent and with no sign of aggression, a good companion for children and an excellent house pet. Its height is 25-33 cm (10-13 in) and weight generally 4—8 kg (9-18 lb). To keep this breed looking like a lion as the name implies requires skill and attention on the part of the owner, as the short hair on the hindquarters and legs does not grow like that naturally but needs careful management.
