All information the Pinscher
Originally a multi-purpose dog belonging to German farmers, the Pinscher is medium sized and stands some 43-48 cm (17-19 in) in height at the withers, weighing in the region of 11-16 kg (25-35 lb). With elegant, flowing outlines this is a strong, well-muscled dog with a short, dense, glossy coat which requires little attention. Colors range from fawn to stag red, or may be black and blue with carefully distributed reddish tan markings.
The high-set, v-shaped ears fold down close to the head. The head is strong but not heavy and when viewed both from above and from the side resembles a blunt wedge. The tail is high-set and is customarily docked to three joints. Bearing in mind that the word Pinscher means terrier, this high-spirited, self-possessed breed is alert, good natured and playful. A loyal dog which is both watchful and fearless, making a good guard. |
