Detailed about Pointing Griffon dog
The Czesky Fousek, a native Bohemian gundog, is a close relation of the Drahthaar and Sticelhaar. It was very popular during the First World War, but was sub sequently almost lost as a breed. Revived by introducing some German Short-haired and Wire-haired Pointer blood, today's Czesky Fousek closely resembles these breeds. Very much a multi-purpose worker, best in the hands of experienced hunters, this is a breed which points, sets and also retrieves, either from land or from water and it would appear that the original breed worked with wildfowl as far back as the fifteenth century.
This breed needs regular exercise, but still makes a good companion to man. The dog is reputed to be amenable with children, although some dogs of this breed can be headstrong and need firm control and training. Size of dog varies substantially, with height from 58-66 cm (23-26 in) and weight anything between 22 and 34 kg (48.5-75 lb).The rough outer coat is of medium length with a soft undercoat and the deep-set, dark eyes portray a gentle expression. |
