Detailed informantion about the Pug Dogs
Today's pug's distant ancestors come from the Far East where they were miniaturized from mastiffs some 2,400 years ago, but in the sixteenth century they found their way to Holland via the Dutch East India company and later arrived in Britain. They became prized companions and this dignified breed has since been popular with both royalty and aristocracy.
This is a dog of great charm and intelligence with an even tempered, happy, lively disposition. The large head has clearly defined wrinkles and eyes described as globular in shape, making for a thoroughly expressive face. With well-knit proportions and hardness of muscle, the legs are very strong, straight and of moderate length. The high-set tail is curled tightly over the hip, and all this is fitted into an ideal weight of 6.3-8.1 kg (14-18 lb). Height range is generally 25-28 cm (10-11 in). |
