Brief Review on Tibetan Terrier
Another Tibetan breed, the Tibetan terrier is used, among other purposes, for herding stray animals and retrieving lost articles from steep mountain passes. This breed is a good deal larger and longer in the leg than the Lhasa Apso and the Tibetan Spaniel. An active companion of nomadic tribes this sturdy breed is generally square in outline, a lively, good natured, loyal companion dog with many engaging ways.
Its temperament is outgoing, alert, intelligent and game and, although sparing of affection to strangers, the breed is in no way fierce. The bite of the Tibetan terrier may be either scissor or reverse scissor. The long double coat requires regular attention and most colors are acceptable, except chocolate and liver. The well-feathered tail is carried in a gay curl over the back. Dogs stand some 35.6-40.6 cm (14-16 in) in height, while bitches are slightly smaller. Height is not specified in the British breed standard but is generally 8-14 kg (18-30 lb). |
