Information a Yorkshire terrier Dogs
Possibly an original result of crossing the Maltese with local terriers, the Yorkshire terrier, though only weighing up to 3.1 kg (7 lb), is a hardy character, full of fun and very much a toy terrier at heart. Spirited, yet with an even disposition, this is an alert breed with dark, sparkling eyes giving a sharp, intelligent expression. Height is usually 22.5-23.5 cm (around 9 in).
The magnificent sight of a Yorkshire terrier in full show coat is outstanding. Their owners have put in a tremendous amount of work to get the coat looking at its best, and when not being exhibited it is usually kept in 'wraps'. Thus the pet' Yorkie' rarely looks quite like those which attain top honors in the ring. Color is important and should be dark steel-blue, not silver-blue. All tan hair should be darker at the roots than in the middle, shading to still lighter at the tips. |
